Tuxford’s history

Tuxford was founded in 1907 and incorporated as a village on July 19 of that year. It lies in the Rural Municipality of Marquis No. 191, about 14 kilometres north of Moose Jaw and 16 kilometres south of Buffalo Pound Lake.

The community took its name from General George Stuart Tuxford of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Brigade, 1st Canadian Division. Villagers marked the community's centennial in 2007.

Today Tuxford sits where Highways 2, 42 and 202 meet. Highway 202 leads east to Buffalo Pound Provincial Park, 11 kilometres away.
